Leaders in Embu County led by Senator Lenny Kivuti, Emilio Kathuri, the former MP for Manyatta, and John Gitonga Mwaniki, a political aspirant, have expressed their worries
over the plight of macadamia farmers in the county. The leaders have demanded a
lasting solution to the cries of the macadamia farmers from the County Government.
Speaking at Mutunduri market, the leaders accused
Embu County Government of overlooking the grievances of the farmers and instead
taking advantage of the issue to advance their political careers. The leaders
have accused the current leadership in the County Government of playing
politics with an issue of great importance.
They noted that macadamia farmers in Embu County
have held demonstrations severally demanding freedom to sell their macadamia
products without intimidation but their efforts have not borne fruits.
The leaders demanded that the County Government take
the issue seriously and address the issue promptly.
