John Gitonga Mwaniki- Manyatta MP Aspirant 2017

John Gitonga Mwaniki is perhaps, the most youthful political aspirant in Embu County. Born in 1987 in Rugumu village in Manyatta Constituency, Embu County, this youthful aspirant promises to bring the much needed change in the constituency. But does he have what Manyatta constituents need from a representative in the National Assembly?

Mwaniki is the fourth born of Mwaniki Ethanus and Teresia Ruguru. As a child, Gitonga dreamt of becoming a scientist. He went to Nguviu Boys High School before joining the University of Nairobi where he studied Industrial Chemistry. Many people have questioned the allegations that he owns a company.

Embu News went a step further in the attempts to substantiate these allegations.

So, does John Gitonga Mwaniki own a company?

A quick research by Embu News has revealed that Gitonga actually came up with the idea of starting his own company while still at the university.

Gitonga is currently a director at ERS LTD or Electra Recyclers & Systems. This company is located in Nairobi, Kenya along the Kileleshwa-Githunguri Road. It focuses on providing clean, affordable and sustainable power solutions. ERS also engages in sustainable electronic waste management. Currently, the company employs more than 50 people.

What is Gitonga promising to offer Manyatta electorates?

John Mwaniki Gitonga has been running ERS LTD for more than 5 years. He says that he now wants to bring leadership and innovation back home. Having been raised in a village in Manyatta Constituency and studied in a high school in the same constituency, Gitonga says that he knows the needs of the electorates better than anybody else.

He witnessed his parents struggle to educate him just like his mates in the constituency. His determination to succeed and the fact that he has achieved so much at his age makes him one of the best persons to hold leadership positions in the constituency. He is therefore vying for the post of a Member of Parliament in Manyatta come 2017.

Though he has a relatively short track record, Gitonga seems to have the much needed focused leadership qualities. He promises a leadership that will address the real issues facing the people of Manyatta.

Who will he battle for a Member of Parliament position in Manyatta with?

So far, other aspirants have declared their interest in the Manyatta parliamentary position.

They include:

·        Emilio Kathuri (Former member of Parliament, Manyatta Constituency)
·        John Muchiri Nyaga (Current Member of Parliament, Manyatta Constituency)
·        Kinyua wa Mugo
·        Engineer Mbogo RN Corado

What’s interesting however is the fact that all aspirants will most likely want to vie for the position on a Jubilee ticket. That clearly indicates how tight the contest for nomination will be since Manyatta is among the key strongholds of the party.

Nevertheless, Gitonga seems ready for it since he is already engaged in grassroots campaigns. At Embu News, we can only wait and bring you new developments in the political scene as they emerge.
