3 Children Perish in a Fire Tragedy in Embu

3 children aged between 7 and 14 years perished in a fire tragedy in Gacagori Village, Runyenjes consistency on Sunday.

Fire broke out while the children were sleeping in their house. Reports indicate that their mother had traveled on Saturday leaving the children at home alone.

Washington Ireri, the Assistant Chief of the area, said that the three children suffocated to death while trying to escape.

The grandmother of the three children said that the screams of her grandchildren woke her up at around 3 am. Unfortunately, her efforts to rescue them bore no fruit.

One of the deceased children had just arrived home for her midterm leave from a boarding primary school.

Embu Airstrip to be upgraded into a Commercial Airport Soon

A delegation from The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) paid a courtesy call on Embu Governor, Martin Wambora, earlier today. The delegation was in the county exploring the possibility of upgrading Embu Airstrip into a Commercial Airport.
