Embu County Leaders Defend the Alliance High School Principal

Embu County leaders led by Governor Martin Wambora have demanded investigations into the resignation of the Alliance High School principal, Mr. David Kariuki. The leaders vowed to mobilize leaders in the entire County to pursue the issue further saying that the performance of the principal over the years was exemplary.

Mr Kariuki resigned recently over bullying allegations at the school. The leaders said it was unfortunate that the principal had been forced to retire early.

Embu County Governor, Martin Wambora
The Governor and several MCAs were speaking at the Embu Stadium while disbursing bursary funds worth Kshs. 168 million. According to the Governor, investigations should be done to establish whether Mr. Kariuki’s resignation was political.

“I am going to talk to my colleagues in politics to work as a team to defend our son. He is one of the best principals the country has seen,” said Wambora.

Embu MCAs spent the better part of the afternoon debating the principal’s resignation.

According to the MCAs, the resignation seems malicious. During the Assembly sitting that was presided over by Steve Simba, the MCA for Runyenjes, the County Assembly Majority Leader, Andrew Musakwa, dismissed claims that Mr. Kariuki covered up bullying that was meted on new students at the school. Mr. Musakwa stated that it was impossible for a seasoned teacher like Mr. Kariuki to make such a mistake while his career was at its prime stage.

Mr. Kariuki resigned after bullying allegations emerged with several students claiming to have been injured at the school by senior students and prefects. It was alleged that bullying had been going on for a long time yet no action had been taken by the school management under the leadership of Mr. Kariuki.
