Embu Losers in Political Parties Nominations to Run as Independent Candidates



Seven Embu MCAs, including Ibrahim Swaleh, the Deputy Speaker, were rejected by the residents in the just concluded party nominations. Before he became an MCA, Swaleh was the councilor for Kirimari Ward. However, his rival, Morris Muchiri, trounced him in the Jubilee Party primaries. Nevertheless, Swaleh has decided to run for Kirimari MCA seat as an independent candidate. 


Geoffrey Ruku, a former member of the Water Trust Board, also lost in the senatorial nominations for the Jubilee Party. He has however decided to vie for an MP position as an independent candidate.

Ruku lost to Njeru Ndwiga, a former Cooperative Development Minister. Ndwiga garnered 56,305 votes against Ruku who garnered 30,183 votes. Ruku who was dissatisfied with the results contested them but the case was eventually dismissed. He intends to vie for an MP position in Mbeere North. 



Other losers include Linus Muchina who is currently the Country Assembly chief whip. Mbeti North MCA also lost to Peter Murithi, the former Mayor of Embu Town. Albert Kigoro, the MCA for Evuvori and brother to Moses Mashamba, the Mbeere ACK Bishop also lost to Duncan Mbui. Mbui is husband to Winrose Ngithi, a nominated MCA. Penninah Mutua, the only elected female MCA in Embu County Assembly also lost in the primaries.

John Gitonga Mwaniki is perhaps, the most youthful political aspirant in Embu County. Born in 1987 in Rugumu village in Manyatta Constituency, Embu County, this youthful aspirant promises to bring the much needed change in the constituency. Embu Airstrip to be upgraded into a Commercial Airport Soon

A delegation from The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) paid a courtesy call on Embu Governor, Martin Wambora, earlier today. The delegation was in the county exploring the possibility of upgrading Embu Airstrip into a Commercial Airport.
