Lenny Kivuti Claims Credit for the Upgrade of the University of Embu

Lenny Kivuti, the current Embu Senator has claimed credit for the upgrade of the University of Embu. The senator said that the University would not have been established were it not for his efforts in fighting off a saboteur. Kivuti said that the construction of the University, that is now more than 5 years old, would have been sabotaged by a government official during the Mwai Kibaki’s regime.

Kivuti added that he joined effort and formed a forum with three legislators from the County to ensure that the people of Embu benefited. The Senator noted that this forum negotiated numerous development projects including the University of Embu during the regime.

The Senator added that a senior officer in the government tried to stop the upgrade of the varsity from the then Embu Agricultural Staff Training College.

“During the December holidays when the officer was on leave, I maneuvered my way and had a map for the university drawn and completed other documentary details. In a short time the file was placed before the President who consented to the setting up of the university,” the senator said.

Kivuti urged the people of Embu to vote for him come August 8th adding that his efforts towards the upgrade of the varsity and other projects are a proof that he cares about them.

The senator is vying for the Embu gubernatorial seat on a Maendeleo Chap Chap ticket. He was speaking on Saturday in Embu West at Kairuri Playground during a campaign rally.

Kivuti was also crowned as an Embu elder by the local leaders and endorsed for the gubernatorial seat. The senator added that he has so far negotiated for over Shs. 23 billion with the National Government since his election as a senator. The Senator noted that it was unfortunate that the money has done very little in the County.

The Senator was accompanied by his running mate, Emilio Kathuri and John Gitonga, who is vying for a Manyatta MP’s seat.
