Embu Airstrip to be upgraded into a Commercial Airport Soon

A delegation from The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) paid a courtesy call on Embu Governor, Martin Wambora, earlier today. The delegation was in the county exploring the possibility of upgrading Embu Airstrip into a Commercial Airport. Governor Martin Wambora hosting KAA and KCAA officials In August last year, Wambora brought Embu County into the limelight when he announced that the county was exploring the possibility of upgrading the airstrip into a Commercial Airstrip that would start hosting commercial airlines. The governor noted that the Ministry of transport was inspecting the airstrip and would give a go ahead after the inspection. Speaking in Mbeere South at a public baraza, the governor noted that his administration had already written to Joseph Nkaissery, the interior cabinet secretary and he had given a nod to the use of the current runway by commercial airlines. President Kenyatta Urge Embu Residents to Register as Voters in Large Numbers

President Uhuru Kenyatta urged the people of Embu County to register as voters in large numbers. Speaking in Siakago on January 26, the president told the residents to get their votes within the remaining two weeks so that they can participate in the August 8 elections. President Uhuru Kenyatta address a gathering in Embu County   The president noted that it is the obligation of every eligible Kenyan to register as a voter because that’s the only way to ensure that the country has the right leaders. The president called on the residents of the county to prepare to vote not just for the President, but for MCAs and governor as well. President Kenyatta toured the four sub-counties of Embu addressing gatherings at different markets including Runyenjes, Mutunduri and Ugweri markets. Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti Captured on Tape Stage-Managing a Support Show ahead of the President’s Visit

Senator Lenny Kivuti was on January 24 captured on tape telling a group of residents to cheer him when loudest during President Kenyatta’s tour of Embu County. The Senator, who is vying for the gubernatorial seat on a Jubilee ticket has raised eyebrows on several occasions regarding how far he is willing to go just to rise to power. Embu Senator Hon. Lenny Kivuti Just recently he almost exchanged blows with his opponent, Cecily Mbarire, when both aspirants clashed at a fundraiser within the country. The senator has also been accused of inviting people to his Kanyuambora home where they are served a plate of rice and given fare for their way back home. Currently, the senator is under sharp criticism from some residents and community leaders for hiring young people in the county to cheer him up during the President’s visit. President Kenyatta’s Visit Met with Displeasure from Embu County Residents

President Uhuru Kenyatta will on Wednesday, 25 January 2017 tour Embu County. His visit marks the last leg of his whirlwind trip that saw him traverse different counties in the Mt. Kenya region. The visit comes at a time when Embu County residents are expressing their displeasure with the president for neglecting a county that overwhelmingly voted for him in the last polls. H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta Last year, over 2,000 Embu, Mbeere and Kamba elders expressed their disappointment with the President for “snubbing” the county during his regional tours. The elders, hosted by Embu Senator, Lenny Kivuti in his Kanyuambora home, urged the president to visit the county-which he didn’t.   Since the announcement of his planned visit last week, residents of Embu County have taken to the social media to express their disappointments with the president and his planned visit.
