President Uhuru Kenyatta urged the people of Embu
County to register as voters in large numbers. Speaking in Siakago on January
26, the president told the residents to get their votes within the remaining
two weeks so that they can participate in the August 8 elections.

The president noted that it is the obligation of
every eligible Kenyan to register as a voter because that’s the only way to
ensure that the country has the right leaders.
The president called on the residents of the county
to prepare to vote not just for the President, but for MCAs and governor as
well.
President Kenyatta toured the four sub-counties of
Embu addressing gatherings at different markets including Runyenjes, Mutunduri
and Ugweri markets. He concluded his tour of the county by addressing a large
gathering at Embu Town. He also inspected voter registration centers.
The President’s visit of the county was part of his
drive to mobilize eligible Kenyans to register as voters. Earlier, the
president visited other counties including Meru County, Kirinyaga County,
Laikipia County, Nyeri County, Garisa County, and Samburu County.
The President will also be visiting Marsabit County
and Tharaka Nithi County today.
