Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti Captured on Tape Stage-Managing a Support Show ahead of the President’s Visit

Senator Lenny Kivuti was on January 24 captured on tape telling a group of residents to cheer him when loudest during President Kenyatta’s tour of Embu County. The Senator, who is vying for the gubernatorial seat on a Jubilee ticket has raised eyebrows on several occasions regarding how far he is willing to go just to rise to power.

Just recently he almost exchanged blows with his opponent, Cecily Mbarire, when both aspirants clashed at a fundraiser within the country. The senator has also been accused of inviting people to his Kanyuambora home where they are served a plate of rice and given fare for their way back home.

Currently, the senator is under sharp criticism from some residents and community leaders for hiring young people in the county to cheer him up during the President’s visit. In the podcast that is circulating on the social media, the Senator is heard telling a group of young people to arrive in the stadium early as they usually do. He further instructs them to cheer him once the president mentions his name.

Kivuti concludes by telling the group to see Kibathi, the chairman of the now defunct APK party, for lunch as their reward for stage-managing a show of his overwhelming support before the president.

This video has caused Kiviuti criticism from a large section of the community with many people wondering just how far he is willing to go in exploiting young, idle members of the county just to grasp the highly coveted seat.
